AD&D - no elemental chaos, Abyss located in Astral Plane
3.5 - no elemental chaos, Located on the world tree fiendish planes
4th edition - Abyss located in the elemental chaos
5th edition - Abyss located in the Astral Plane, much like AD&D. Elemental Chaos still exists.
